Medical and scientific writing

Throughout my career in academia and the clinical nutrition and medical devices business, medical and scientific writing was of paramount importance for my everyday tasks. Scientific publications, newsletters, statements, rationales for new product ideas, or input for regulatory files are only a few examples to mention.

As a nutrition scientist, my medical writing tends to focus on clinical nutrition. However, owing to my scientific expertise and longstanding work experience I can quickly familiarise myself with new topics as well.  Over the years, I have researched and written on a range of subjects related to clinical nutrition in:

  • Paediatrics
  • Cancer
  • Renal disease and
  • Liver disease

I can write and edit a variety of medical communication and health marketing materials, produce evidence-based content for healthcare professionals and researchers, or translate complex scientific information into easy-to-digest messages for laypeople. By such, I support my clients in their nutrition communications according to their needs.

To date, the large majority of my previous documents was company-internal and confidential. However, here are a few examples of study manuscripts I wrote or was involved in:

  • First author:
Breuninger MI, Schachtel GA, Lührmann PM, Hartmann B, Neuhäuser-Berthold M.
Complex correlation structure in consumption rates of major food groups: implications for the assessment of radiation exposure.
    Public Health Nutrition. 2003;6(1):87-94
    PubMed

  • Co-author:
Xue H, Ren W, Denkinger M, Schlotzer E, Wischmeyer PE.
Nutrition modulation of cardiotoxicity and anticancer efficacy related to doxorubicin chemotherapy by glutamine and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids.
    J Parenter Enteral Nutr. 2016;40(1):52-66
    PubMed

  • Medical writing support for clinical study manuscripts in the field of renal dialysis
