Scientific advice

Due to my strong scientific background and industry experience, I support Medical and Scientific Affairs departments with all relevant scientific activities. My ability to critically appraise scientific data and communicate it in a way that is understandable to both medical and commercial colleagues furthermore helps me in providing high-quality scientific support to marketing departments as well.

As part of my different positions in the parenteral nutrition and medical devices business, I worked cross-functionally with colleagues from marketing, preclinical and clinical research, research and development (R&D), and regulatory affairs. My area of responsibility essentially comprised the following activities:

Product development 
  • Proposal and evaluation of new product ideas and strategies with a focus on paediatric lipid emulsions, amino acid solutions, and products in the areas of oncology, hepatology, and nephrology
  • Evaluation of external development proposals and licensing offers
  • Cooperation with R&D departments to translate the theoretical compositions into concrete formulations
  • Preparation and active participation in scientific advice meetings with regulatory authorities and international advisory board meetings
  • Participation in scientific events, in particular to identify new substrates and product ideas as well as new areas of interest
  • Scientific support in the context of opposition proceedings and the registration of own patents (e.g. WO/2020/007758 - Lipid emulsion for parenteral administration)
Clinical and experimental research
  • Management of international research collaborations (investigator-initiated trials)
  • Liaison to international healthcare professionals and researchers
  • Examination and evaluation of study proposals
  • Support of the clinical study strategy concerning experimental and clinical studies on new products
  • Scientific advice in the context of internal approval processes for experimental and clinical studies
Medical and scientific writing
  • Preparation of publication manuscripts and review of external manuscripts concerning new product developments
  • Writing of scientific statements and rationales for new product ideas or indications
  • Responsibility for scientific information material for doctors and internal staff (author and editor)
Marketing support
  • Support with the launch of new products
  • Elaboration of scientific statements and answers to product-specific questions from international markets
  • Contributions to and approval of scientific brochures and marketing material
Training
  • Organisation and moderation of product training courses
  • Scientific information and training of sales and marketing colleagues
  • Preparation of slide sets for internal and external training
  • Organisation and supervision of company-sponsored educational symposia at international congresses
